Let me start off by saying, I know…it’s gonna be weird how I connect the strip club, the Korean church, and Chinese restaurants together but give me a little room here. To understand this weird dynamic, I’ll have to provide a little context and background to my story.

Shakespeare

Back in high school, I ran with someone who I had known for a very long time. We had this uneasy relationship at first because we were both part of two different crews. To many Koreans, his crew that hung out with Viet thugs was akin to being a race traitor. However, both of us became increasingly frustrated with our own crews because they were making secret side deals to push weed. Unless you’re pushing real volume, weed is not a money maker.

A random school project brought us together in high school and after making amends while working on a Shakespeare play, we decided to team up. Screw weed and our trifling crews, I had a direct line to a supplier in a different city who happened to be Viet, go figure. For them, it was a family business manufacturing their own product and is actually how he paid for college. My partner on the other hand was a social butterfly. Had a line to every black, hispanic, and white crew across the city. Match made in heaven.

Strip Clubs, The Korean Church, and Chinese Takeout

One strategy he used to help us push product was getting the help of a stripper he knew. She would help us get new customers from the johns that visited her in the club and in return she would get free samples from us. It actually worked out well and while she was super young, she knew how to handle the system.

On a weekend, we were all hanging out at someone’s house to party and chill while we discussed a little bit of business. My partner was genuinely friends with her and this was her time to unwind after dealing with all the people at the strip club. I remember watching her clean her nostrils incessantly with q-tips and I kept thinking to myself, you must be on something.

She began venting about this guy that was constantly coming around the strip club every week and bringing her really expensive gifts. Personally, I wasn’t really paying attention to the story but rather trying to figure out if she was Asian, half-Asian, or Hispanic. I didn’t want to be rude but I’m sure she’s had nastier things said to her.

My partner then turns to me and goes you know who she’s talking about right? I was like…no? How the hell should I know. He then explains…”it’s _____ and _____’s father.” Out of respect for the son and daughter who we went to school with, I’ll leave their names out of it. And then it hit me, holy crap. That’s the guy that owns a bunch of restaurants and donates a shit ton of money to the Korean church.

I used to hear it all the time amongst Korean parents, did you hear how much he donated to the church and how much food he’s giving away?

It kind of hit me like a ton of bricks. Let me get this straight, you go to church on Sundays and donate a crap ton of money. Then you go straight to your favorite stripper who is basically the same age as your youngest daughter and smother her with lavish gifts. I was like wow, this is all sorts of wrong. I know, there’s a bit of hypocrisy in my story but still. Plus, here we are judging the Viets.

Honestly, I’ve seen their mom and I have to admit she’s pretty hot. I remember her coming to a school recital and every young, virile, teenager staring at this Korean Milf strutting her stuff down the aisle with designer clothes and bags. Never understood the husband and his obsession with a teenage stripper.

Even years later when I visit my parents, they sometimes bring home free food from one of their restaurants. They explain to me, look how kind they were to give us all this nice food. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna munch down on this delicious Chinese cuisine but I do feel a little sick eating it. However, I do find myself checking for stripper glitter on the food or takeout containers.
